Rockcrawling has been a hobby of mine for several years. I got started off-roading when some of my friends and I built a VW based dune buggy...

...and then a second one.

We had a lot of fun with them but I soon realized I wanted more of a challenge. I bought a 1958 Willys CJ5 with a 283 Chevy V8 for $300. I completely rebuilt the Jeep from the ground up and added front and rear lockers, spring over axle lift, saginaw power steering, 35" BF Goodrich Mud Terrains, and a 5 liter Chevy V8 with CrossFire fuel injection. I retained the original axles with 5.38 gears and the stock T-90 trans and Model 18 transfer case. Since then I have broken two front axle shafts, and worn out two transmissions.

This is what the Jeep looks like today. I added a snowplow and soft top. The body is trashed from being rolled over so many times, but it's still holding together.

Here are a few pictures of the ActionAge Scrambler 6x6 that I helped my nephew restore. It is 6 wheel drive, skid steer, amphibious, powered by a Kholer 14hp engine. The restoration involved rebuilding the hydraulic clutch/brake/steering system, relining the clutch/brake discs, replacing the head gasket and rebuilding the carburetor, replacing the tires, and painting the body. It was an enjoyable project.

That's me having all the fun while the poor kid watches! The Scrambler actually has a back seat that's big enough for two kids or one adult.
